AEM International are delighted to have helped the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) with the appointment of Alistair Mackie as its new Chief Executive.  He will take up the role in April 2019.

Mackie joins the RSNO from London’s Philharmonia Orchestra, where he served as Interim Managing Director from August 2016 to March 2017, a member of the Orchestra since 1996 and most recently as Joint Principal Trumpet. He has also served as Philharmonia Chair twice from 2005 to 2011 and was elected for a third term in January 2016.

Regarding his appointment Alistair Mackie said, “I’m honoured and excited to be taking up the position of Chief Executive with the RSNO. The first orchestral concert I ever attended was a performance of The Planets at the Kelvin Hall with the Scottish National Orchestra and throughout my teenage years I was repeatedly inspired by the unique energy and musicality of this amazing ensemble. It’s no small part of why I chose to pursue a career as a professional musician.

“As the RSNO begins the next phase of its life with new Music Director Thomas Søndergård I believe there are unparalleled opportunities for this outstanding ensemble.”

AEM International are delighted to have been involved in the appointment of Aidan Lang as the new General Director of Welsh National Opera.

British born Lang is currently General Director of Seattle Opera, a role he has occupied since 2014. He will take up his new position in July 2019, reporting directly to the Chair and Board.

Aidan Lang said, “Welsh National Opera is where my career in opera really began, and I have always considered it to be my artistic home. It was during my time there in the 1980s that I came to understand the potential for opera to change the way that people view the society they live in, and that insight has been at the core of all my work ever since. It is an incredible honour to be appointed as WNO’s next General Director, and I am hugely looking forward to working with Tomáš, the staff, Board, Chorus, Orchestra and the various technical crews who together make up this extraordinary company.”
